Oh Canada, my home and native land.  Where I was born. Where I met my husband.  Where I gave birth to my two boys.  Where I come from.  Where I have lived, on and off, for much of my adult life.  A country I know almost nothing about.

Traveling to far-flung and exotic places was a childhood dream (along with being Queen) that I have never outgrown.  I am lucky. I have gone lots of places.  I have traveled to over 75 countries. I try to study the places I go. I learn to say hello and thank you in the local language. I read books by native writers. I attempt to understand the history and politics. I eat street food, visit museums and explore.

It was a bit of a shock when I realized I knew less about Canada than all these wonderful places I have visited.

This blog is my attempt to remedy my lack of knowledge about my native country and share what I discover.

  1. Welcome back to Canada Julie!
Remember… “there is no such thing as bad weather only bad gear”, English art critic John Ruskin (1819-1900). Hope that helps you with your acclimatization back on the coast this winter. Have fun with the blogging. Love it!
